Fire Sale Close

This one is easy, just imagine there is a fire in your warehouse, you get your stock damaged and need to sell it cheap.

Emphasise how your loss is their gain. In wine we used to call this ‘bin ends’ or the last bottles of a vintage.

In many cases particularly with seasonal goods you are better off to sell the last of the stock at cost or even loss. The advantage is that you clear out your stock into liquid asset and can reinvest back into new goods.

Don’t overdo this, you’ll destroy your brand image or people will learn to just wait for the sale. We all know those places that always have big red SALE signs all over them.

Unfortunately, we dropped a box so we can’t sell them for $3,000. Our loss is your gain, I must sell these at $1,000. You can get the screen repaired for $50.
